Asus Eee for sale in Japan (Windows!?)

My coworker found that the Japanese electronics store Joshin already started selling the Eee-pc in Japan. With Windows XP installed by default! Damn, wasn’t the meaning of the Eee-pc to be cheap and fast? Because it bundles with Windows in Japan it is like $150 more expensive. That’s just crazy. I wonder if there is any space left on the 4GB storage card. Engadget also reported on this issue.

Hmm, $468 still is a good price and they talk of a 4G model in comparison to this 4G-X model, where the -X means the XP preload. So what’s on the 4G? Nothing? Maybe try iATKOS on the thing? It sure looks sweet enough!

The default OS is a custom distro of linux by Asus based on Xandros. It looks pretty cool actually. Just check the official Eee-site: http://eeepc.asus.com/global/guide.htm
