Photo used on Schmap Brussel
Last year some photo I took of Himeji Castle in Japan was published in some interesting book in China. As I applied the Creative Commons license on all of my photo’s and they first have to ask permission, because they use the photo commercially. I agreed on publishing the book as long as I would appear in the credits. As prove they sent me two free copies of the book. Pretty cool.
Early this year I was approached by some American writer who also wanted to use one of my pictures. However, this writer didn’t want to credit nor pay me for it. Of course my answer was no.
Now, some online guide called “Schmap Guides” wanted to use some photo in their Brussel guide. I agreed as they said to link back to my Flickr site and to publish my name. Today I received an email the photo is now implemented in their guide at www.schmap.com
Also, now and then I find my photo’s used on blogs and other sites. All with the proper requirements mentioned in the license.
I talked about this license before. I’m still surprised it is actually working.
