Twitter spam

Hi, Jeffrey Gelens.
Weather Forecast (Forecast) added you as a friend

It shows up in my followers list as:

Weather Forecast / Forecast Bio: Send ‘d forecast (zipcode)’ for your weather forecast. i.e. ‘d forecast 14202’

Yay! My first Twitter SPAM friend. Twitter is subscriber based, so that would render it harmless to spam-attacks. But what if a spammer can subscribe and add everyone as a friend? Which is pretty easy to do. Everyone’s followers list could be flooded with spam. I suggest Twitter to make it possible to moderate people’s followers, because this could become a bigger problem in the near future.

Also it seems that some evil people are pretending to be celebrities by using their name on twitter. They build-up enormous lists of followers. Interesting…

But, a follower cannot send you messages right? It just sits there, maybe people will see it when they see your followers list but that’s about it right?

About the celebrities, yes, I subscribed to David Hasselhof for about 10 minutes, than I got fed up with him picking out new clothes and deciding on what kind of plastic surgery to have done ;)

Yes, people will see it only your followers list. But if that gets worse it might be kinda annoying. It is easy to fix by Twitter though.
It’s just that these spammers always find something to do their business.
