MacBook Pro
I finally got one. Last Wednesday I got rid of my iBook and bought an MacBook Pro the same day. The staff at the Apple Store in Shinsaibashi was really helpful. The stupid thing is that I can only spend 1000 euros with my creditcard each month. So I had to use the creditcard of my parents too, but the Apple Store didn’t allow to use two creditcards because of security issues or whatever. So I went to the bank to get some cash from the ATM. That way I could finally buy my new laptop. It took some time but it was worth it. That evening I played with my new toy for a while and it worked perfectly. However, the next morning I started my MacBook Pro… the screen showed all kind of strange artifacts and everything just freezed. The same day this happened 2 more times. So I took a picture of it using my phone and went to the Apple Store. I showed the picture and the guy took the MacBook Pro to the repair corner. They just gave me a new one, because it was just one day old. Lucky that one is working perfectly, the previous one was just a bad build.
I’m really happy I bought this machine. It will be my main computer as I will sell my desktop in Holland. It is really fast. Encoding videos is also much faster than on my old iBook. At the moment it just has 512mb ram, but soon I will buy more memory as I did with the iBook.
Almost all the software I’m running is universal (build for both PPC and Intel CPU‘s). Skype is the only non-universal application I’m running. And Photoshop of course, but I lost that application with the switch to the MacBook Pro.
Anyway, I’m happy I bought this machine in Japan. It is much cheaper here than in The Netherlands (tax is lower here) and besides I had a 10% student discount. So I saved more than 500 euros. That’s a lot!

I’m envious of the large discount you get too :P

I will buy some more memory though, which is pretty annoying here, because most shops have these unknown memory brands. And the official Apple stuff is so expensive. I’m really glad I bought this machine. It runs really smooth.
