Baruto no gakuen

Last Wednesday I received an acceptation mail for my role as an extra in the movie “Baruto no gakuen”. I had to send all kind of information about myself like shoe size, height, chest, etc. and a few photos, visa status, experience as actor (none of course :D ).

Some background information: This is the “German year in Japan.” This impressive story, quite rare in the world, will be made into a movie, and its production will start in mid-November. The movie will be titled the “Baruto (Bart) no Gakuen.” It will be released in summer next year.
Bart means a mustache in German. The movie is a story about humanitarian army Col. Matsue with a mustache. Actor Ken Matsudaira is the main player. November 13th is a German national holiday to mourn the dead in the war. In Naruto, there is a monument to mourn 87 Germans who died while at camps, and people from the German Consulate General in Osaka-Kobe came to Naruto to present flowers for the dead.

Quite interesting. Today one of the organisators called and thanked me about 6 times because I found 7 other people who also want to play in the movie :) .
Anyway, the other people and me will leave to Umeda this Saturday. We have to be there at 6.40 in the morning. There will be a bus waiting to bring us Tokushima, I think about 4 hours from here. We’ll come back late in the night, if we can’t catch the last train, a taxi will be arranged for us. Besides that, the filming will make me 11.000円 $) richer! And even better, I’ll play in a movie (*)! Let’s hope you can actually see my face. If it is fun I’ll probably go to the other filming days too, easy money B) .

Soo, when will we be able to see you on the big screen? I find it kinda funny that you apparently had to give them your three-size, as a guy ;) .

They just started filming, a Japanese newspaper says next summer. I’m not sure if they will release the movie worldwide, probably Japan only :(. I’ll ask about it this Saturday.

That shouldn’t be a problem, it only means that you’ll have some subbing to do as soon as it is available ;) .

Hi! I found your blog very interesting! I am a Japanese woman and a huge fan of Ken Matsudaira. I have some information about the film, Baruto no Gakuen, for you.

If my understanding is correct, the film will be relased in June 2006 in both Japan and Germany. The film distribution company, Buena Vista, is also planning to release the film in other German-speaking countries as well as in the US.

Here’s the press release that was held recently:
