Koyasan「高野山」
The trip to Koyasan last Wednesday was also very beautiful and interesting. Koyasan was settled in 819 by a monk called Kuukai. Koyasan is located in Wakayama at the south of Osaka and is 800m high.
It took about 2 hours to get there from my home. We bought a 1-day ticket for 3000円 to travel to, from and in Koyasan. Pretty cheap I think.
On the way to Koyasan we talked to an old man, well Mami talked and did some translations :P. I could only understand some basic sentences. He was really kind and even gave us some bandages for hiking.
I didn’t really know what to expect of Koyasan, but most people said it is a very nice place to visit. And it seemed to be true. There are lot of graves of famous samurai, but also graves of companies for employees; something you won’t see in Holland. The environment was very spiritual, it looked and smelled important and the trees were gigantic, I’ve never seen such trees. Some of them were more than 600 years old. Besides the graves, more than 100 temples can be found in Koyasan, we only visited a few. And of course the autumn leaves, they were beautiful.
I just uploaded 174 new pictures, have fun watching them :)
In the late afternoon we left Koyasan very sleepy. The train was very comfortable, so we both slept on the way back :)
Back in Namba, we decided to do some look around in some shops. After shopping I met tsubura, Mami’s dog. かわいい〜 :D He seemed to like me. Too bad Bella can’t be here to play with tsubura.
Another successful day Mami and I enjoyed!
